Anyone keen on a cloth diaper laundry service?

Post by granger1 » Mon, 29 Oct 2012 2:42 pm

Hi,

Am thinking of starting up a cloth diaper laundry service. My partner and I are still in the early stages of business planning but it would be similar to those services available overseas where we provide you with a batch of clean modern cloth diapers and pick up them when they're dirty in exchange for some clean ones.

Just wanted to find out if its something mums out there would be interested in and if not, also what factors would persuade you to take up the service? (eg price, convenience, etc)

If you're more comfortable offering your insights privately, you can PM me too :)

Thanks and I hope we can get a lively discussion going

Whoaa.. i wish we had this kind of service 4 years ago..
instead of my wife screaming at me every night to do the laundry duty..

anyway, just my 2 cents, not really sure if this kind of service can take off here, due to the many families with babies most likely would have live-in domestic helper

Well, families who are concerned on how bad those non-biodegradable disposable diapers on the environment will be your hardcore advocates and clients - that depending on the cost.

hey mudbaker,

thanks for your post! Let's hope you're not the first and last one ;) True that's a good point you've made and one we've considered.

Domestic helpers can help but they may not be able to get the diapers as clean having specialised cleaning methods. I'm sure you've smelt the stink they can have when diapers aren't rinsed out properly with enough water. Use too much detergent and it could stick to the diaper and agitate the skin on baby bums.

Also using our service could mean water and electricity savings cos we'll take care of the washing and drying.

We're just trying to take the headache out of the whole process and give you more time to spend with your little ones.

Anyone else got any thoughts?
