Areas in which to live

Hi
I am wondering if someone could help me. We are relocating to singapore in January with dh job. I have been tentatively looking at rental properties online but was wondering if anyone can advise me on any areas in which to live. Dh will be working in Alexandra hospital, so will need to be quite close by for on call commitments. We are thinking of sending our children to tanglin trust school. I would also like to consider st.joseph's and maybe UWC.
We are currently in Australia, so are quite used to an outdoors lifestyle. Close to a park or open area would be good.we are also mainly looking at houses rather than condo's, but are open to suggestions.

Rent my place... it's a semi-d. Singapore is highly urbanized but does have decent walking trails.
