Relocating from Malaysia.. bring the car?

Post by tipmil » Sun, 07 Oct 2012 2:33 am

We are considering moving from KL to Singapore soon. We bought a car in Malaysia. I'm wondering what the laws are (& associated fees!) with bringing our car with us from Malaysia when we relocate? We will probably only be in Singapore 1 year, so do we need to register the car there, or can we get away with continuing to drive it with Malaysian credentials since we'll live there for such a short time? I've read it's incredibly expensive to have a car there, but we don't have a choice as we have children and will live in an area that requires it. I reviewed many of the posts on the forum but didn't see my exact question.. so a little help please?

You won't be able to "just drive it".

The answer depends somewhat on what legal basis you are staying in Singapore as well.
Now I'm called PNGMK
