King single bunk beds

Post by waricash » Sat, 06 Oct 2012 11:36 pm

Hoping someone can assist - we have arrived from Australia with 2 brand new australian sized king single mattresses (106cm x 203cm) and no bed to put them on. Husband assured me that Singapore has everything and we can buy bunk beds there !!! Should have known better as I had done some research before we arrived about bed sizes.
Our 12 year old son is nearly 6ft already so we specifically wanted the king single beds to fit him - I have searched high and low for 4 weeks now to no avail - does anybody have any experience with a bed manufacturer who could possibly make me some - hopefully that wouldn't cost a fortune. I have also been keeping an eye on gumtree,,Craigslist etc for any expats leaving town who may have had this same situation with beds to sell - so far, no go. Any pointers or assistance would be greatly appreciated. :)

I've never heard of a king single. Only a super single which is the same length an a normal single but about 6" wider.

It seems to be a peculiarity of just Australia !!! King singles are the same length as a king bed in Australia - if you join two king singles together they make a king bed - very useful for those of us with very tall kids but difficult if you are living in Asia.

As it is a size indigenous to Australia, good luck. You might get a local builder to cobble together a suitable bed frame, but I'm afraid you would probably need to order a mattress from Aus. That, or some company here will order it, mark it up and charge you double for the shipping.
