Is the offered salary enough for married couple

Hi ,

I have got a offer of 5800 SGD / month, is this enough and what can be the saving potential.

Any thoughts will be really helpful.

It depends really. Without masters it's probably ok, but with masters you'd probably be degrading yourself for that much, especially if it's from a prestigious university.

I dont have a Masters .. and i am getting the same amount 5800 as relocation bonus as well.. What would be average monthly expenses for 2012

Rent 300, food 300, and travel 200 .. and then save 5,000 $ ..

Of course, must remember not to get tempted by any Sol or Tiger and stay away from Steak and Such ..

No masters really? I really thought you were a highly sought after guy from a prestigious university after reading your first post.

Average monthly expense for me is more than $5800 so I don't think you should take it as you won't be able to survive. Every single person in Singapore has the same lifestyle and expenses, so if $5800 is no good for me then it won't be any good for anyone else either.

5800 might be quite tight. Let me break it down for you.

Housing : $2-3k / mth (unless you don't mind just renting rooms instead of the whole apartment)

Transport : Car maintaince would easily be $100 -$300 . By public transport: maybe $80-180

Food: Variable, depends on how much you dine out and how often you indulge in luxury

Insurance : Health insurance with local insurer that covers hospitalization costs for both of you : $100-$120 / month

So you might have around $500-$1000 for savings depending on your entertainment costs and food costs
