Employment Pass

Post by andrea999 » Fri, 21 Sep 2012 12:02 pm

I am currently working in a company in singapore. I got another offer from a future employer and they are going to apply EP application for me. I want to leave my current employer before my notie period and join new employer.

Will i have any issue from my current employer to join the new company ?
will my current company will come to know about my future employment ?
Will i have any issues if my current employer holds my EP pass ?

Please clarify

Depends on how long you have worked for them. Also depends on how you leave them.

will my current company will come to know about my future employment ?

Yes, if the HR Department is worth their salt. Then can check all the company's EP/S holders online and the MOM site will tell them if the employee has an IPA or has applied for an EP/S pass. It will not tell them who filed for the IPA but only that there is one. This will let the employer know that the employee is planning to leave.

Yes, especially if they are open to allowing you to leave early. They can and will hold the EP until such time as the notice period would have been filled. You cannot work for the other company until both Tax Clearance and notice has been cleared.

You are asking for trouble. Additionally, if you leave your employer without notice, at the first sign of recession the new employer will let you go as well, as he will already know you are not trustworthy to follow the terms of your contract. Not the way to take up a new job.
