Relocating to Singapore Job in Changi Business Park

Post by ganisrinivasan » Sun, 16 Sep 2012 3:14 am

Hi ,

I am relocating to singapore from india. My job is going to be in Changi Business park. I am senior IT professional.

I will be moving single and then bringing in my family after 6 months. Need some recommendations on which area i should be staying initially so that i can avail public transport to CBP. Studios/ Rent out Master Bed rooms/ Service apartements , what will be the rental and which are the best areas to live in .

Also need recommendations on where best to search for a 2-3 bed room house for my family which is near CBP and what is the budget. My needs are 2-3 Bed , Furnished , Decent facilities (Child play area , Closeness to Public transport , Malls , Nice neighborhood , Bit greenery around and walking paths/trails).

Any tips on how i can search online. I have registered in easyroommates and airbnb and actively searching there. Any better forums or sites ?

OP,

Use http://gothere.sg to find out how long walking/taxi/bus/train takes between point A and point B in Singapore. What you should do is identify some places to live that meet your ideals, and then use that site to get an idea how close it is to your office based on transit time.

For Changi Business Park, look in the vicinities of Simei, Tampines, Tanah Merah MRT stations. If you rent an HDB, I would estimate 2300-3600/month for a 2-3bd in those areas near convenient facilities. Add 30-50% if you wish to rent a private condo. Private condos will have nicer facilities on the grounds, better fixtures inside the units, etc, but may be less convenient to public trans or shopping. You probably won't need a condo though, just an HDB. In my limited experience, an HDB in Singapore is about the same as a decent private condo/apartment in India.

hmm... doesn't surprise me, you were unable to navigate your way around google and the search function on this site, yet apparently you're a 'senior IT professional'

zzm gave a very good tip to start with (considering that he himself lives at the east part of Singapore, which would be the area you are looking at). You can start Googling from there.

This topic has been pretty much discussed in this forum. You can use the Search Function at the top right, under Profile/Messages/Login box for the ballpark figure.

Oh another thing, is your child at school-going age? If he is, which school do you intend to send him/her to. You may need to consider the proximity to International Schools as well. Otherwise your poor child may end up commuting farther daily than you do.

Look at . for flats....we found that to be the easiest to navigate...the forum here also has a good property search engine too...the best advice is to. Look at a lot of places before you sign the lease.
