Hi all, firstly just want to say how useful this forum is for people to get the info they need about life in Singapore.
My first question (of many) for the forum is whether expats can bring in external HD's with movies/music on them? I understand there is a policy for DVD's when shipping but what is the score with stuff in your hand luggage?
Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure the actual policy, but I don't think you'll have any problem at all. I don't think ICA will check your laptop, and I've never heard any stories of this happening unless they already suspect you of something else.
Conversely, i know many people who have had their laptop searched for porn entering the US.

We bought in a hard drive full of tv shows and movies that were legally ripped from our collection. We also bought the actual disks too (as proof of purchase).
As far as we know it was never even looked at.
