Choosing a kindergarten

Post by Kelbels » Fri, 07 Sep 2012 2:37 pm

Hi

We have just moved to Singapore and we're looking at kindergartens for our 3 year old & 18 month old...

We're living in the Bayshore Road area... can anyone recommend a good school within walking distance? I've seen Rainbow Cove and Columbus nearby... are these good?!

Many thanks!!

For a while my daughter attended Smartz Playhouse on Lucky Heights. It was a decent school. I prefered it over Columbus. I liked the Principal and staff at Smartz.

Having said all this, after 3-4 months in Smartz I moved my daughter to Shaws. She goes by school bus and I found they offered the kind of environment I was looking for.

I have not checked out Rainbow - I called them and they had pretty long waiting list

Good luck. Let me know if you need more information

I felt the same about the school bus. We moved to Singapore when my daughter was 2 years and 3 months. I pushed her in the stroller to school during the rainy wet days and the humid hot days. When we moved her to Shaws we signed up for the school bus. I was not very convinced about it but later realized that it worked very well for us. She is picked up and dropped in our apartment and does not have a chance of getting wet. Also I make sure they buckle her up before the van starts moving. She has also made a lot of bus friends and has a fun ride.

It worked well for us even though I was not sure it will. My daughter is now 3 and looks forward to her bus drive in the mornings. On rare days when we take a cab and drop her off, she is quite grumpy.

Good luck

Ahh! the uphill climb! Good luck! Smartz is a neat place with a nice local/expat mix.
