Those that do it make life more difficult that stay behind. Why is it that Maxis, Malaysia, requires a RM 1000 deposit from expats? Because the cheat and cop out.

Legal or not, it is not ethical... you signed the ferking contract... honor it... or show that you are a person of little integrity.
However, fair contracts defined under a proper consumer law ie 14 days to change your mind would resolve these issues for everyone.
Fair customer relations?! In Singapore?!

It won't be stated in contract. One has to check with Starhub's website for the termination fee rates. There is a table for that there.

on the other hand, starhub can be a real @55h01e too, even when the right thing is done.

my friend left the country permanently. he decided to pony up the total amount due for ETC on his cell, tv and cable package.

he went down to their cust svc ctr, paid up whatever was due in full and in cash, terminated all the services (my explicit instructions for him to tell SH) and changed the billing address to mine for me to get the final bill.

month after month since his departure, i kept getting envelopes from starhub... and i decided to open them up. they were charging him for something like... 45c or 54c.

i had to call them up a few times, demand that this ridiculous amount be waived in light of the situation, before they finally agreed to.

initially, they told ME to go pay them the half dollar to settle the account...!!!
