Want 2 join a weekend/travel/exploring/photography club

Post by RoopsInSg » Sat, 18 Aug 2012 8:30 pm

Hi All,
:)
26/m from Mumbai, India. I am here in Singapore for almost 2 months now. Till now life in Sg had been "work on weekdays and Singapore sight-seeings on Weekends". But I guess I have to shift gears for my weekend activities. I am looking forward to move from sight-seeings to more of Exploration (of the place as well as the local and mixed culture of Singapore and nearby countries). I am also looking forward for trips ( to Beaches, Historical and Natural Scenic places). I have just started into Photography after to coming to Singapore (as its a heaven for photographers). I am looking for a photography Expert to be my mentor and we can go for clicking sessions together. I am also a big Formula1 fan, will visit Singapore GP (yet to buy tickets). I am not a party kind of guy... Not In for Clubbing as well...

So you can mail me at [email protected] If you are
1) planning and looking for more folks to go on an exploratory trip
2) like Trekking/Hiking to nearby places
3) Into photography and ready to teach me your tricks :) we can go out together
4) Looking for buddy for Singapore F1 GP

Cheers,
Roops

Hi Roops,

24/f/Canada, In Singapore for sometime now. Good to see that you have some really nice hobbies. I have been going through the forum lately but found most of the threads are for weekend parties and fun hangouts but very less on shared hobbies. I have already dropped you a mail. Do inform me if any good plan comes up for a 2-3 days trip or Click sessions. :) :)

- Beth

Hi All,
Good to see quite a few responses and mails to this post...

@Beth: Replied to your mail. Since you are not free this weekend and I will be heading for Indonesia next weekend with my office colleagues. We can sure plan some outing in the city in the week after that :)

@DarthCoder and @Anindya: good to know that you guys are up for F1, I havent purchased the tickets yet. I will purchase either Zone4 Walkabout (Race Day) or Bay Grandstand. If we have more show of hands then we can avail some discounts on group booking. Btw I am supporting Ferrari as well as ForceIndia :) Anindya...sure we can do some photography outing too.

@Sarah: Welcome to Singapore :) If there is some plan then lets meetup this weekend.

Cheers

Also a big shutterbug, mostly landscapes and urban-scapes from my travels. Would be up for some photo walkabouts if there are any.

I mostly shoot on a 500D with a 24-105 and a 16-35. If you're a Canon as well, will be happy to share lenses.

Hi - I am thinking about getting more into photography, so would be keen to meet up and discuss new tricks. I really like my compact IXUS 100, but I can't do panoramic views (without using pc software) or time lapse, which I'd quite like to get into. Anyone know if there is a compact that can do both of these functions?? If you organise a photography outing, please let me know :) [email protected]

Hey there, I think the functions on an IXUS are pretty limited if compared to a pro-sumer or DSLR.

You should have a look around at the new micro 4/3'rds if you are looking to up the ante, still lighter and more portable than a DSLR. Most come built-in with that panoramic swing effect that Sony first had.

For time-lapse, I am pretty sure you will need an intervalometer with a suitable camera that can take that input.

Hi all, just became a member here in the forum and I'm looking into some groups here who are into photography as I love photography and even traveling / hiking. I'm a Canon-user and into mostly macro photography, some model shoots, travel photography etc. I'd like to meet up with you guys with some same interests. 8-)

Hey Nak! Thanks for that. It might just breath new life into my old Ixus 860IS. I haven't done anything in a long time with it. Might just have a play now that the camera in the SII is just as powderful! ;-)

Happy to oblige. More often than not, it's the photographer, not the camera...although manual controls help a lot.

And speaking of smartphones, I sent you a PM.
