Anyone else follow TRE or Temasek Times?

Post by offshoreoildude » Sat, 18 Aug 2012 1:33 pm

These two websites I'd hoped would be the beginning of an opposition news effort. However they seem to have turned into online slanging sites against 'FT' (expats) and other foreign imports. I do still support their efforts - TRE actually does some good articles from time to time from their better contributors.

I realize it's a certain number of posters that do this on TRE (tremeritus.com) but the xenophobia and shrillness has to be seen to be believed in the comments section.

Temasek Times is just pure idiocy.

Of course it doesn't help to post in the comments responses under a monicker like 'Happy FT' or 'FT chasing SPG'.

They are good for a laugh. But at the end of the day, you need to use a modicum of common sense when reading them. As long as one realizes they are put up by the oppies & have an anti-PAP agenda (not a "good for the country" mindset), then they are fun to read and they show the whole world just how naive the some of the locals really are. The problem is, most locals are the silent majority, and that's sad to see them allow the vocal minority destroy the credibility of the population of the Little Red Dot.

It's even sadder that they're using "Temasek" as part of their name. Used to be associated with Singapore's history as a fishing village, or perhaps a reasonably reputable investment corporation... now it just reminds me of how ignorant/ridiculous some people can be on the internet
The only problem with life, is that there's no background music.
