Hi All, I'm getting my youngster an xbox for Christmas, I understand that I can't get anything other than ntsc-j games for it, so buying stuff from UK/US is out of the question in regards to second hand stuff!
I really want to get a few older games cheap and I know that people like to sell their stuff here for $1 less than they bought it for 2 years ago, so I feel unlikely to find anything on ebay or gumtree.
Any ideas of any good second hand games shops?

Your best bet is in pirated xbox games

City Square Mall in JB (after the checkpoint) has large selection of pirated games. Look for such stalls in Citylink section of the mall.
I personally do not know where to buy them cheap in Singapore.

Pretty sure Xbox360 need a mod-chip though to play pirated games, so be aware of that and read up before just buying copied games.

Oh yeah I forgot to mention about the chip part for pirated games. Does your unit have it nutty?

I have not yet bought it, so it's not chipped and I don't really want to open it up and solder inside it before my little ones play on it!
Otherwise, yes, it's far cheaper as you simply download and burn to disc... cost of DVD+r's is very reasonable at the moment.
Any idea where I can get it chipped?

Just get the ones that are already chipped in. No need to worry about soldering. Just ask the seller if the unit is chipped to play pirated discs.

I'd guess most of the shops in JB selling the games will either chip yours or sell you a chipped unit.

Hmmm, I am just a little concerned of the quality of the unit if I buy it from someone who is basically a career criminal, I'd rather buy it from a corporation that I can return to if anything goes wrong.
I shall ponder this.

Pretty much the only thing out of the ordinary that happens is the mod chip itself goes bad (or more accurately, a solder joint usually breaks free). Outside the ordinary for Xbox360s of course. I'm close friends with a 'career criminal'

that mods most any video game console, cable box, or reprograms satellite tv cards. He's done hundreds, this is what he told me.

Have a look in the Funan, lots of game stores there on Level 4 (If I remember correctly). A few of them stock pre-owned games at reasonable prices, though the selection will be limited.
As for modding the xbox, won't you risk being banned from xbox live?

Thanks Mr Bond, that was the kind of answer I was looking for, pre-owned seems to be the safest way.
I have no intention of using Xbox live for my kids, they are a little too young for online gaming really at this point. But, I may be tempted to do so myself

Just thought of another place, though I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post the name of the shop here, it's located in the Far East Shopping Centre. If you google "games far east shopping centre" the first result will be their website where they have a price list of all the pre-owned games they have in stock.
