Glasses (eyesight) retailers

Post by Travailes » Mon, 06 Aug 2012 10:02 pm

Where is recommended for retailers offering a large range of glasses at good prices. I need a replacement pair quite urgently ? Is Queensway Mall near IKEA any good ? Thanks.

Can't say, as the Queensway shopping centre are more noted for their shoes than anything else.

if you have the script ready, and depending on your urgency, maybe try this mob http://www.metsuki.com

shipping was relatively fast too.

Try People's Park Centre, 101 Upper Cross Street. Quite a few opticians in the building. I like Season Optical on the second floor. I don't wear glasses except for reading but they have always been professional and reasonably priced.

Some people, like my friend, will go to Johor Bahru. He went to JB Saturday morning, and got the new glasses in the evening. I'm not sure if it's cheaper, but he said that it's ok

If you don't mind a bit of travelling and your prescription is normal (without astigmatism), you can go to JB and try. They are way cheaper there.

I have a very strong astigmatism prescription. Think I have found a really cheap shop in HV which has a good range of frames. Lenses need to be made in Japan but all in much cheaper than the UK - in fact so good I bought two pairs. Free eye test as well.

I also have astigmatism and have always bought my glasses from Mr Yew at Lee Wah Optical at Bukit Timah Plaza (1st floor, near the main entrance) since moving here.
Be careful what you wish for
