2nd hand furniture and mattress sizes

Post by wheaten » Thu, 02 Aug 2012 5:01 pm

I have tried Craig's list, gumtree and the classifieds here of course, and tried googling second hand furniture. Does anyone have any tips for where to buy second hand furniture, namely beds and lounge suites. I am guessing there are people moving on wanting to sell their gear, but i haven't had a lot of luck. Before we left we found one shop's website that looked promising, but saved it to the computer currently in the shipping container and we can't find the link, no matter how hard I google. Any links and ideas gratefully accepted.
Also, is there a way of searching previous posts on the forum? I keep getting redirected out to google searches when I search from the right hand top corner of the site.
I have also just discovered that beds here are shorter than in australia, the widths are the same. Any idea where to get non asian bed lengths and frames?
Thanks

The site uses Google for searching but it will only search singaporeexpats.com.

Actually if you look closely to the search function results, there are threads included in the results, just look closely and you will notice the 'View Topic' phrase on those (the reason you thought it is Google searches because it is powered by Google itself) :P

And I wouldn't recommend buying second handed mattresses (judging from your thread title). I have seen second-handed bed frames are offered for sale under Classifieds section in this website (not sure if it is Asian or non-Asian size). Perhaps you may wanna try there.

I see, I noted the paid ads and didn't keep scrolling. I understand that there re places where people put up ads on walls. Anywhere on the east coat anyone can think of? Can I just walk up to a condo and ask to see a notice board?
As to buying a used mattress, after spending most of this year on hotel and hostel beds, I am not too concerned if the mattress is in clean condition.
I'll try to think this hrough creatively with help from residents.
