Condo & Preschools for a young family from Sydney AU

Post by k80kate » Thu, 19 Jul 2012 1:34 pm

Hi All,

My family and I are moving to Singapore at the end of the August. We have some temporary accom lined up on Orchard near Scotts road and will use this as a base to find some where to live. I would love to hear your opinions/recommendations on where this could be.

We are a young active family, our two boys are nearly 2 & 4 years old. currenlty we live near the beach and do a lot of swimming and bike riding and would like to continue to do this in Singapore. I also love my Yoga and will be looking for a studio to practice with.

An older style apartment is fine, as we prefer space and don't want to feel cramped. Somewhere with/near to lots of trees or parklands and easy access to an MRT would be great. Access to a grocery store is pretty important too as we are not getting a car. Our budget is around $5000 pm. 2 or 3 bedroom plus a maids room.

I also am looking for a preschool for the 4 year old. I'm after something that is nurturing and encourages learning through play and positive interaction. Also somewhere with a low turn over in staff and near where we will be living.

My husbands work is located at Raffles Place and the Green, Red, Yellow & Purple lines should be fine for the MRT

Buses won't work for me as I don't want to have to collapse the pram every time I want to board a bus.

Looking forward to hear what you think!

Many thanks,
Kate. :D

If you do have the budget and you are temporary living in Orchard. Might as well find somewhere near Orchard. There's a shopping centre called Paragon and on the top floor it is children-friendly. There should be a few pre-school over there.

Hi

Looks like we are in a similar position. We are a young family two boys 5 and 3. I have registered my eldest in eton house broadrick, so looking to rent around district 15. I understand the east coast is a little cheaper with more spacious options but unsure what else I can achieve until on the ground. Will be staying in a serviced apt for 1st month. Also originally from Melbourne but last 10 years in London. Also want to keep up yoga and get the kids doing more outdoorsy stuff. also hubbie working in raffles.

Let me know how your research goes

Can I ask if you found a suitable preschool for your son? If so where?

I'm also looking for a preschool that is not too structured and more play based for my 2 year old daughter.
Thanks
