SVP extension woes

Post by nutnut » Thu, 19 Jul 2012 10:24 am

So, it's come the time for me to apply for DPs for Mrs and mini nutnuts (Wife has just packed in work) and as such I have been told 5 weeks is the processing time for the application, however, they have 30 days SVP....

So, I applied for extension of SVP with ICA via e-Xtend, this failed... I called them they tell me that they need a local sponsor (only a PR, SC or P1 pass holder will do, not a PEP!?!?!?)

I called MOM to see if they'd have the pass completed before the SVP ran out, do you know what they suggested? If it wasn't ready by Thursday next week....

Leave the country and then come back in with a new SVP! :O :O :O :O :O :O

Dilemma! What do you think I should do? ICA are the ones who control the border, not MOM, and ICA have rejected the SVP extension already...

Dang.

Since MOM suggested that, get the record of the conversation and that officer's particulars ready in hand and prepare for a weekend trip to JB or Batam. When you're back in the border and the ICA officer stops you guys, I guess showing them that will help.

Why don't you apply for the DPs online which only takes 7 days to process. Yes the manual application process does take a lot longer.

Yeah, that's what we'll do Lynx!

Saint, I'm a PEP holder and cannot do it via EPOL, only manually, I did try! ;)

I did this for the wife's cousin when she visited. It was rejected online (had my PEP by then, that must be why!), but completely smooth sailing from ICA when we came back from JB. The girl even had me skip half of the white immigration card, said it wasn't needed! She's Vietnamese too, they tend to get a hard time.

We had a similar situation pretty long time ago and when the SVP expiration time came closer we went to ICA, requested to see an officer (not the regular counter clerk) and got the visa extended on the spot but it required a bit of persuasive efforts so was not that automatic. At that time a friend of mine had also a similar problem and got from ICA exactly the same answer as you got from MOM.

Cheers guys, giving me a little assurance in the whole matter... I think I'll send them across to MY for a few days if not done by middle of next week then :)
