Hanibie PMd me last night and unfortunately it seems a friend persuaded him to try and renegotiate his salary, and he has approached the company (perhaps yesterday) trying to do this.

He wondered whether he should call HR first thing and apologise (and presumably withdraw the request, and 'try and convince them that I am sincere').

I note this in this topic as there is far greater collective wisdom here than anyone is going to get out of PMing me alone...

Not all companies behave alike. Without even giving us the company name, how would we know how they will behave?

Anyway, from my conversations with some HR people involved in recruitment, it all depends on the company, the HR and the department in need of staff.

Some companies will throw out your application if they feel you are too fussy or has the intention of moving on once you find a better paying job. Nobody wants to spend 2 years training somebody only for him to leave once he got a better deal in another MNC. I suppose local companies who cannot afford to pay like MNC tends to be more sensitive to such issues.

First, big thanks from me to all of you. :D :D :D

They are Oil Gas Company. They do projects for major US oil gas companies such as chevron and conoco. They also fabricate pressure vessels and pipes.

I called the HR yesterday. It is kinda embarrassing because I always thought she was a guy. It turned out it was a lady. She was quite nice, and accepted my apology. She told me to hear news from her next week. At this moment, she told me to give her a confirmation which amount she should consider.
She said okay, and she would give me the terms and conditions next week.

After the call, I felt much better. I was just trying to be honest and sincered rather than showing my uncertainty and being skeptical.

I can't really tell you the company name. It's not ethical to do so, imo.

It is not because I want to jump here and there for higher salary.
I'm not a person who can jump around. It is too tired to do so.
As long as I can see my future in this company, why not? I would even accept the offer lower than 2500.

I'm weighting the risk. Anyway, true I was greedy. I asked more than 2500. True, I was stupid enough to accept the offer without asking for a room for negotiation.

I want to join the company badly, and I want it. The reason is... Please do not use me as a cheap slave.

I guess I need to pray more lol.

PA, Per Annum, i.e. Per year?

Term life is life insurance. No point taking that out unless you have dependents.

Thanks JR8.

I see. Per Annum makes sense. Does that mean the company covers me up to this $xxx annually, I pay the rest if that is not enough?

surgical and travel? travel means something happens to me while I travel during work?

They also mention about the medical cap and dental. It is really small numbers compared the first two. I'm assuming they are just small sickness?

I'm a very healthy person. However, this stuff must be clear you know. It also reduces my monthly expense. It would be great that I do not have to worry at all about my medical insurances while working in Singapore.

Thanks

Oh I see, I hadn't realised that this was something your potential employer is offering you. Without reading the document it is too vague, and too risky to try and summarise what it means.

I have sent an email regarding that. I want to review the contract first before making a decision.
at this point I'm weighing between options.

A. Currently working at Company A as a design engineer. I train myself and learn everything on my own. Job is flexibility. Small size company. However, I am often lost in direction due to the lack of experience. In the mean time, I can get my master but I have to pay on my own. Company just provides flexible time.

B. Company B in Singapore offers me a position in flexible position, management trainee. Their main business relates to my degree and interest. Pay scale is about the same. I may learn what I want.

It sounds that company A is better than company B. I often found myself lost and unmotivated. I can't work on my own. Google everything that I don't know. There is nobody I can ask. Read books and articles how to design correctly. Do reverse engineering of someone's else work. Then, figuring out why they designed that way.

It's very difficult to decide now.

I have a vision that I could score a position at Company B's manufacturing department. So, I can work closely to see how things are made and the design's process.

You've already tried to renegotiate one job offer. Now you have two offers. Can I make a suggestion - stop dicking about and make a decision like a man!

@lynx

Sorry haha. It was very bad wording. A is my current employer. Sorry about the confusion. I have been working for A for awhile. I'm looking to move on at this moment.

@sunday I don't know who he is.

I don't think I should be asking more questions. I'm sorry for the troubles. Thank you for your time, and it's been a pleasure talking with all of you.
