Long Weekend Traffic

Post by Verl » Tue, 17 Jul 2012 11:14 am

Hi All,

We will be making our first trip across the causeway up to mersing on the Friday just after after national Day, and returning on the Sunday.

Can anyone tell me what delays are like on the return trip to Singapore? We have mates who will need to head to the aiport, I think their flight to Sydney is about 9-10pm, so need to be at Changi by 7pm. I have heard traffic can be extremely bad especially on long weekends (or just after a public holiday).

Is it safe to try and depart Mersing by 1pm to make it back by 6pm?

Traffic can be a nightmare - one long weekend it took us 2 hours to reach the MY border post (and no delays on the SG side!) My advice is a) use Tuas, not Woodlands and b) give yourself lots of time. Go early in the morning when leaving and come back early to mid afternoon to miss the rush.
