studio/one bedroom aparment on a budget

Post by Tinka33 » Fri, 13 Jul 2012 11:09 pm

I am from Europe and recently I accepted a position at NUS. Pretty much I do not know anything about Singapore housing and I was wondering if I can find a studio/one bedroom apartment in Singapore with my 1800S$ budget. Can someone also give me estimation on the cost of utilities?

I would really greatly appreciate any help/advice. I always wanted to live in Asia for a while but if I cannot afford to live by myself in Singapore I will think twice before making final decisions.

Thanks!!!

Do some digging around and you'll find your questions are asked and answered on a weekly basis. For example...

From the Staying, Living in Singapore sub-forum:

http://forum.singaporeexpats.com/ftopic87338.html
... there are loads more, but that's for you to find.

Also use the Search buttons, above right. And use the search function on this forum's property portal host site!

Thanks for the information!!! I did use the search engine but perhaps I did not put the right key words in it – I did not get much useful information out.
It is fascinating in a way – it seems to me that with a PhD I will not be able to live by myself. Only in Singapore hm? The price for the sea/nice clime seem to be exceptionally high.
Does someone by any chance know if NUS provides some housing arrangements?

Thanks once again!!!

Did you try "housing" on the NUS site? They usually have all that information for foreigners.

I doubt you will get a studio for that budget, not a condo anyway but you would get a decent share condo.

All depends on what area you are after and what standard of place.

I'm also looking for a cheap studio. But with $1800 budget, I think you can find it. That's not cheap - but maybe to Europeans! :)

Go on then. Tell us where you're going to find a studio apartment for $1800.

Yeah, I wish you luck. You are definitely going to need it. Actually a miracle would probably be closer to it.

SMS you are so sarcastic! :o

But seriously, it is almost impossible to find such a place for such a price! It's early impossible to find something under $2.5K actually for a studio. Unfortunately it is very expensive to live in Singapore
