De facto relationships
De facto relationships
My partner and I are in a de facto relationship and have been for 12 years now but with the plan to marry in singapore. We have 3 children. I am currently on a long term visa and the kids on a dependants visa. My husband is employed here. If things don't work out here in Singapore will I have legal problems taking the kids back home to Australia? I know it all sounds glum but I really need to know where I stand with my kids since our visas are different.

As the father is probably listed as the children's father on the BCs but the mother isn't legally married to the father but only in a de facto relationship, she cannot get a DP but only a LTVP. The children, however are able to be on DPs as he is their father (I'm assuming). The legal aspects of returning to Aus with/without is something beyond my knowledge though.
