Hi, I would like to find out if anyone has had this situation before:
My family is in oz, so my son is on exit permit. The exit permit was 1 or 2 days short of 2 years and it will expire at the end of this year. So no bond is posted so far. We have also decided to let my son go back for NS in a few years' time.
At the end of this year, we are going back to sg for a holiday, and my son will have his 15th birthday in sg, and his exit permit also expires while we are in sg. That means for us to fly back to oz, we either have to extend the exit permit or let it lapses first then reapply the exit permit.
I wonder if there is a difference between the two options.
Specifically, which option (if any) allows me to not post bond yet at this stage? I would like to delay posting the bond or arranging guarantors as long as possible.
For reapplying the exit permit, any idea of the approval time? We have 5 days from it lapses till we fly out.
To complicate matters a bit, his passport will expire next May, so we have to extend his passport even before we fly back. Or else he does not have 6 months validity when we fly out. But I suppose I can apply online for him and then collect his passport while we are in sg. Please correct me if I am wrong.
Any information or experience is appreciated. Thanks.
