Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong's Vision for Singapore
"I think it should be a land of opportunity, where everyone has full and equal opportunities to be educated to the limits of his ability, to realise his full potential, and look forward to a better life for themselves or himself, herself, his/her family.
"It will be a country where everyone is treated fairly, regardless of race, language or religion; an economy where rewards depend on your ability and your effort; and for those people with drive imagination ability to create something new, with some talent, the sky is the limit.
As a prime minister, it is his calling to say this. This is commonly understood.
HDB and ICA's job is to keep the ratio in balance. This is also commonly understood.
One word for you --> naive!
How old are you anyway??? Haven't you tasted enough from the policies in your home country?
Oh, another point to ponder, would you still be proudly say this, had you not been awarded a PR status instead?

Yes. It's government policy in fact.
It doesn't come any more from the horse's mouth than this:
Lee Kuan Yew wrote: But our fertility rate is even lower than Japan’s. Without immigration, the ageing problem will be too heavy a burden for our young. Immigrants who can be integrated without upsetting the racial balance are in our interest.

Plenty of other choice anecdotes in that speech too.

Some are treated "more" fairly than others. Anytime you think there is no racism here, just go check out the HDB Housing policies that tell you where you cannot live because of your race, regardless of whether you have the money or not. Or how many employers on Orchard road require Mandarin Speaking employees even though they cater to all tourists and their primary interaction with others in is English.
For the record I think he's around 31.
SOME PEOPLE TRY TO TURN BACK THEIR ODOMETERS. NOT ME. I WANT PEOPLE TO KNOW WHY I LOOK THIS WAY. I'VE TRAVELED A LONG WAY, AND SOME OF THE ROADS WEREN'T PAVED. ~ Will Rogers

SMS,
If you still remember, I'm asking on whether there's a fee that needs to be paid during PR application. This leads to a big hoo ha on one applying ownself vs in a family unit. Also, on the waiting period time e.g 2 years before lodgement etc.
Yes, you did mentioned about the flavor of the month. What if I tell you that I'm not a Malaysian chinese? What say u?
Then tell me.
Whatever you are, apparently you didn't quite make the grade when you tried to immigrate to Aust. though, but I'm assuming it was due to lack of experience at the time. Of course now, you have around 8 or 9 years experience so with over 5 years experience in Electronic Engineering, it still might have been enough to swing the tide but I don't believe you are a 7~9%er.
On second though, trying for Aus. looking into UK and finally Singapore. You do fit the mold though, don't you.

Oh SMS, would it be a good idea if we splice ben8118 discussion into separate thread? Poor OP got her thread hijacked.
...and you people wonder why I'm still putting off applying for PR instead of rushing in like my fellow countrymen.
