Bus Plus commute on East coast

Post by catinheels » Fri, 06 Jul 2012 11:57 am

Hi Everyone,

I am starting to work next week and I will be taking Bus Plus on East coast.

Does anyone know how to get on this bus and how long it takes to get to Shenton Way Tamsek Towers from Lagoon View? On their website, it says it would only take 22 min, but is it really? How do you pay? Can I use Ezlink card? Or do I pay by Cash?

Does it stop at the public bus stop at the designated stops listed on their website every time, or do I have to stop the bus when I see it coming? I was watching it from my apartment this morning, but it does not seem to stop at the public bus stop each time but passes thru the stop. Is the bus always dark green and the size of about micro-bus?

Please help me how to catch this bus as next monday I cannot be late at work! it is my first day at work in singapore! Thanks!!

The Bus Plus stops at all normal bus stops but only if they've got space or someone sticks their hand out. Quite often the Bus Plus will be full by the time it gets to Lagoon View so might have to wait for the next one. Yes you can pay by your Ezlink Card the same way as any normal bus. I would say if you were getting the bus before 8am the journey would take about 25 mins, after 8pm a little longer.

oh...thank you so much for your reply so quickly!

really!? does it get full by the time it comes to Lagoon view!? Thanks - thats good to know. How many passenger seats in a bus? I noticed it is not very big. I was thinking to get on board at either 8am or 8:10am, but it is the busiest time? <-seat availability from Lagoon View wise?

ok I will be sure to jump up n down and stop the bus when I see it:)

What you've got to remember is it starts from Bayshore Road area and stops off at the 3 condos there before it gets on the main road. They only take about 15 people but they are quite regular at that time of the morning.

I take this bus often. They run every 10 minutes and take around 30 minutes to get to Shenton Way. If you take a later bus, like after 8am it takes longer like 45 minutes.

You really need to stick your hand out or they do not stop. The bus gets filled at Bayshore itself sometimes. There are some days when the bus is vacant and some days it is full. There is no pattern to it.

Yes the bus is always dark green and a micro bus. Usually a 16-18 seater bus. You can pay cash or use ezlink.

Thanks Saint again and wannamove for your valuable input.

Is there any other private commuting services besides Bus Plus in the area?

I also noticed that there is a normal bus no. 544 which has only two buses scheduled in the morning (7.50 and 8.00am Opp Eastern Lagoon II on Bedok South Ave 1) that claims to take approx. 20 min to the city according to the SBS Transit website costing 3.5 dollars. Anyone care to share a knowledge about that pls?

I would rather not take 196e option.

I really like living in the East coast area and would like to find a workable solution to commute.

Many thanks,

Yes the 544 does go from that stop and is quicker as goes straight on to ECP. Can't tell you how busy it is when it arrives at that stop as I'm already in office by then

The other bus services I have used are 531 (this does not stop at Lagoon View I think). I get in near Bayshore. It goes directly on ECP. 5$ and takes around 25-30 minutes.

I have also used 545. But both 531 and 545 services start late (After 8am)
