Terminate Contract
That's pretty good considering I only posted there about a dozen times over the course of a single week six or so months ago! It would make sense though, since I was probably posting the same stuff. I recall a few of the people posting the same questions here and there trying to get an answer they wanted to hear. The Malaysian lady from UK who wanted to keep her car in JB but live in Singapore for one...JR8 wrote: You'd be surprised. I recognised you on the Angry Board!
With Facebook though it's much harder to find arbitrary people unless you have some of that information I mentioned, they've been negligent with their privacy controls, or you're active in the same Facebook groups. I'm only in one any of the other people on this board are potentially in (I think SE perhaps...), and then I'm only a lurker.
The above you quoted does not say you can terminate the contract. It only says the illegal clauses are invalid. Huge difference.crescia wrote:http://www.mom.gov.sg/employment-practi ... ation.aspx
Any terms and conditions of employment, in a contract of service, that is less favourable than the relevant provision under the Employment Act is illegal, null and void. The provision in the Act will take precedence over a particular contractual term that is less favourable.
i can always tell them that i can get out from their company anytime (of course, when i'm ready) because in the contract that i signed with them either I resign or they'll terminate, i will stay pay for the monetary compensation of 5 digits. What i'm trying to say that they can't impose me to pay the monetary compensation if i resign because the contract is null and void due to the number of work hours.
Be honest with you, I would not even consider that company in the first place. It is too shaddy per evaluation. It is also shaddy that they try to discuss with you how to pass this fraud. You are just letting yourself being bullied.crescia wrote:i'm a clinic assistant.
the deduction of my salary is 500 and that makes 1,500 per month. they say that will make an increment after a number of months. MAYBE after 3 months, they will evaluate me and give an increase for a 100 if i'm doing good. if not, then maybe after several months after.
How bad do you want to stay in Singapore? Life still goes on. OT without pay, lol.. you are just basically a free slave.
I can think of two ways you can do at this moment.
1. Suck it up and finish the contract. Try to get another job. Do not try to do this way again in the future. READ the contract! If it's too shaddy, let it go man! Life still moves on.
2. Ditch the country and forget everything. Let them ban you. You don't need it anyway. That comes to my earlier question.. how bad?
I would never feel guilty in the first place since my work hours have never been compensated.
At OP, you have been compromised yourself too much. Is your country another North Korea? That makes sense to me that you need a new life in Singapore.
