Singapore Citizenship query...kindly help with info

Post by tangy74 » Sat, 30 Jun 2012 12:12 am

My husband & I are both PR's our son who was born in Singapore is on LTSVP, we both have been PR's since 10 years, we just moved overseas for a 2 yr posting off which one year has gone. My husband recently applied for Singapore Citizenship.

q1-we do not mind our Son doing NS service however we would like him to study in an International School as we do tend to move around on expat postings. If my son applies for Singapore citizenship & holds on to his other citizenship till he turns 18( when he has to chose one) can he till then study in an international school in Singapore?

q2- if both my husband and myself become Singapore citizens and my son is not a Singapore citizen but still on LTSVP or student pass can he study in an international school?

q-3 if my husband is granted his Singapore citizenship and my son and i are not Singapore citizens, can my son still study in an International school?

Thanks :)

NS comes first> No dual citizenship after 21. No tertiary education before serving NS

Ain't gonna happen. ICA will question you if you fail to include his name on the citizenship application

q-3 if my husband is granted his Singapore citizenship and my son and i are not Singapore citizens, can my son still study in an International school?
As above answer. Do not even try to circumvent this, it will fail

Thanks :)

Not possible!
He would have to renounce his other citizenship before he can get a Singaporean one.
Only double citizens by birth are allowed to retain both until 21.
