Was wondering if anyone could give me advice on finding and an obstetrician and a hospital, costs etc. We've only just found out we are moving so only just starting to panic and I know nothing arrgghhhhhhh...
Thanks in advance

Don't panic, you'll be OK! Singapore is a lovely place to give birth, going by my own personal experience. There is a whole sub-forum for finding an OB (usually called gynea here) http://forum.singaporeexpats.com/forum65.html

What is recommended will definitely depend on what your preferences are for your birth and philosophy of prenatal care. I know what I like and would be happy to recommend that but it may be way different from what you're looking for.

Hi Smiffy!

Don't panic!!
I just moved here three weeks ago and I'm doing fine!! I'm now 35 weeks pregnant an I got a great welcoming from all the doctors I've met up with! We have been viewing a couple of different hospitals and they all seem great! Just find a OB-GYN you think could fit your needs, and also see witch hospital he/she is connected to and then send them a e-mail:-)
You can find a lot of information online, like poodlek says!
If you have any more questions I'd be happy to answer you to the best of my knowledge:-)
Expecting our first baby in august/september!

I am due in September :) I took some time to find my ob/gynae in the beginning. The first one I went to was a partner ob in Raffles Hospital and he was very well-raved about. The bill came out to be abit of a shocker.

I did an ultrascan and it cost us SGD$500plus. My husband and I were in a bit of dilemma as the ob was very experienced and being first time pregnant, we want to have the assurance that i was in safe hands. However 500 bucks for every 3 weeks seems bit much.

After much consideration and research, I settled for an ob in Mount Elizabeth Hospital. He is also very experienced ob and the fees are more reasonable. And I like the nurses in his clinic more, they made me feel more at home.
It cost us about SGD$150- 200 per visit.

Drop me a note if you want more details of my ob :)
