Idiot's guide to vpn

Post by PrimroseHill » Tue, 26 Jun 2012 9:19 am

I am not that tech savvy but would like to set up a VPN to watch some UK and American TV.
Can someone help, advise and guide me please? Ie, which VPN and an idiot's guide on how to set it all up?

Just Google for "VPN to UK for OS X" and you'll get tons of hits.
Each service's instructions will vary slightly. It's a pretty simple process though if you follow any of their guides.

in order to use VPN to watch UK or US TV, you are more than likely to have to pay to use it. company that provide such services are www.hidemyass.com (i dont use it myself but just like the name of it!) but there are a lot more with VPN/proxy services.

other options are slingbox or running a proxy server. for both options, you need to have friends/relatives in UK or US with braodband connection to host it for you.

Another option is www.strongvpn.com which has something like $8 USD/month plan that you can choose IP address from US, UK or elsewhere.

With this, you can watch hulu and other websites that are not available in Singapore.
