I am concerned.

I assume you want to paint (a.k.a. "whitewash") your room.
There are DIY shops that sell paint, and brushes.

I think he wants a decorator.

Best way to find one would be by word of mouth, but if that's not possible the classified ads in the weekend newspapers list many.

p.s. If you rent another good way is asking your landlord.
