More than a decade ago somewhere around Lake Tahoe, falling the first time I put on skis doesn't count as skiing right?
In more recent years, I had basic ski lessons for around 7 days at Sahoro on Hokkaido and skiied at night at Yongpyong in Korea. With years in between.
So now no stamina and very rudimentary skills, but wanna have fun trying to ski much, although my husband is averse to any strenuous activity.

I've visited Niseko on Hokkaido as part of a package tour, but not skiied there. Powder heaven there therefore many westerners there, for those interested.

Any powder anywhere around above-mentioned period and anyone interested to attend any ski camp, lessons or trip together, while I need to build solid foundational ski skills?

Judging from interest by others here in snowboarding, guess I'm the only dinosaur here interested in skiing while everyone is into snowboarding. Maybe I should pick up snowboarding too.

I will be riding in Japan dec2012 to jan2013. But will love to join if there are any trips after my return to Singapore. My 3rd season in Japan now. Btw, airticket is cheap, flying direct to Tokyo with delta air just s$630 if you avoid the festive period. So I can go again and again honestly.

Post by vaism » Tue, 25 Dec 2012 3:28 am

Hi all!

Found this group by accident when looking for shops selling Snowboards in SG!

Good to bunch up and go together as its really kinda hard to find ppl to ski with!
I'll be staying at Alpensia & ridig at both there and Yong Pyong with another friend.

Anyone feeling snow withdrawal symptoms can contact me and join us! 30 dec - 4 Jan. staying at Holiday Inn Alpensia.

I'm intermediate & teaching my friend who's new.

Am also in the Singapore Snowboarders FB group so add me there if you're keen! "Stuart Chng"

Hi all,

I am interested in snowboarding and skiing.

Last snowboard is 4 years ago.

I am beginner.

Many of my friends are no longer doing this sports.

I will be good to know a few friends here to keep things going.

I just started work and so I tried not to spend too much on this sports.

Please let me know if something has been arranged.

And a belated Happy New Year!

I just got back from skiing in Switzerland. Don't bother doing Europe this year -the snow is very poor all through the alps.
Now I'm called PNGMK

Hi All,

I'm a fanatic about skiing and snowboarding. I was looking for people who are crazy about the snow too!

Just came back from Niseko in Dec with my family and will be going again for another 9 days in Feb 2013 (just after CNY) - staying alone but meeting some friends there for the 1st half of the trip.

So much so I'm already planning for Spring skiing in Lake Tahoe in April and Hokkaido again in Dec 2013.

Definitely looking forward to meeting people with the same passion!

Skill level-
Skiing - Intermediate to Advanced (but not extreme). I can go easy black diamond, but prefer to stick to the intermediate as it is easier on my muscles.
Snowboarding - Beginner to Intermediate - Planning on having lessons to improve it such that I can constantly make those nice curve in powder!
Making a Living.....GIVING!

Just got back from Nozawa Onsen, Japan. Awesome! Been to quite a few in Asia, but this isby far the best. Snow was good, food even better. Interestingly stayed in a hotel owned by singaporeans http://www.japanski.net
Hope we can organise something next season. Hakuba would be another interesting option.

Hi all,

I'm just a beginner in snowboarding. Started this sport in korea (taught by friends) many years back and love it! But haven't got the chance to do it annually, therefore only get to ride again in New zealand and recently, hokkaido Furano. Was there last Dec (till Jan 2013) and enjoyed the powder very much! Plus, it's a less touristy place (more locals going), therefore the slopes were really not crowded :D Since I decided to do this seriously, I took up the beginner lesson....and it really made the whole riding more fun! Hope to meet like-minded people and still ride while my stamina allows...haha.. :P

Hi everyone. I also skied a couple of times in Gerlos Austria and Courchevel France. Last time I did it was January 2013.

I'm a novice ski-er, I can do red slopes, and just a very bit of blacks. If you are planning to do it in Asia, please count me in. I am interested.

Thank you.

I'm new to Singapore, but if anything happens with this let me know. I am potentially keen for a trip (although very much a beginner)
