What do you think about Hillview area?

Post by yakw » Mon, 18 Jun 2012 1:28 pm

Hi,

I'm very new to this forum - in fact this is my first post. But in another way I've been reading this forum for a couple of years and I love the useful advices / information I found here so thanks everyone.

I'm interested to know the view from the expats working in Singapore: what do you think about the Hillview area? I'm considering buying a condo unit in the area as my investment. It's a 3-bedder and would be rented out to a lovely family re-locating to Singapore (with 1 or 2 kids) on a rental budget of may $3.5 to $4k a month - well, that's my plan. :)

The place is a bit out of nowhere (yes, that's my main concern and the reason I'm posting this question) - around 20 minutes walking to the nearest MRT station. But if you drive it could be pretty convenient since it's very near to both Bukit Timah Expressway and Upper Bukit Timah road. However being out of nowhere has its own attraction because the place is lovely immersive in lush greeneries and it's just right next to the Bukit Timah nature reserve. Being a nature lover I just love the surrounding.

There are direct buses to Orchard and Raffles place (around half an hour to 40 mins commute).

If you're an expats, what are your opinions:

1. Would you be interested in the area? If yes, why? And if no, why not?
2. Would you be prefer in renting out a new condo unit, or an old one?
3. What factors affect your choice of unit the most? Location (near work place, town, school)? Near MRT or express way? The neighbourhood? The condition of the place (old, new)? The design, facilities and architecture of the condo (posh, renowned architect, nice swimming pool, etc.).

Thank you for your opinions.
