Hi all, I'm from East Malaysia and will be visiting Singapore with my family (2 adults + 2 children) during August this year. We will be staying in our relative's house throughout the trip. But somehow for some reasons, we need to find our own accommodation for the night after we visited the Night Safari (we will be visiting the Singapore Zoo the next day morning). We are thinking whether we should book a hotel in JB for that night so that it's close to the Night Safari and easier to travel back the next morning for the Zoo. However, I'm worried how much hassle we will be having while going through the immigration for both countries. I always heard people complain about the long queue there, but if we are going to take a cab and travel as a family, how much would this arrangement help us? Other option would be getting a hotel in Singapore for that night, but I notice the hotels, even a 2 stars hotel in red lights areas are quite expensive as compared to the hotels in JB.
By the way, roughly how much would be the cab charges from the Zoo to JB city center?
Thanks in advance.

Re: Singapore/JB immigration
It all depends on what time you are expecting to travel in between these two. If you travel during peak hours (7-9am and 5-8pm) on weekdays, the queues will be insane but I assume that you have a significant part of your problem averted at JB side, thanks to the automatic immigration clearance using your passport or MyKad.ohjani wrote:Hi all, I from East Malaysia and I'll be visiting Singapore with my family (2 adults + 2 children) during August this year. Queues will be long on weekends too and it is persistent throughout the entire day, unless you are lucky.
And you still need to navigate your own way from your JB hotel to the Sultan Iskandar checkpoint, get immigration clearance, queue for the transit bus to cross Causeway Point, get another immigration clearance, AND THEN navigate your own way to Singapore Zoo.
If you want convenience, I'd suggest using a taxi (from your hotel or JB checkpoint entrance right to Singapore Zoo) but you still need to avoid the peak hours.

Which means you need to clear immigration .. twiceohjani wrote:We are thinking whether we should book a hotel in JB for that night so that it's close to the Night Safari and easier to travel back the next morning for the Zoo.

Well, my 2 cents on JB Hotels ? unless you are planning on Compact, or Pan Pac or Eden or Holiday Inn or such class hotels, stay away from cheap motels.ohjani wrote:... quite expensive as compared to the hotels in JB.

Enough times I imported Bed Bugs .. when I used to be in JB every weekend for my volunteer thing ..
