URGENT: Company holding onto original certification/Army COS

I need help here. (URGENT)
Recently there is a company holding onto my original diploma certificate as well as my army COS. I'm worried the company will not return me the documents.

May i ask is it against the law for doing so???

Company can only held onto your copies. The originals are meant during the interview to show proof and authenticate your credentials with the relevant authorities. No they cannot hold onto your originals forever
