My Changes For a Singapore Citizenship

Post by mouse72 » Thu, 31 May 2012 1:10 pm

I am a Chinese PR, from Malaysia, married to a Singaporean for 20 years. Currently, is going through a divorce. Have a son, 12 years old.

My PR status was applied through my employer, 22 years ago, and I am still currently employ with the same company. Immediately after my married, ICA had send me a letter for application for Singapore citizenship which I ignored.

Last week, I called ICA for inquired for Citizenship application. The officer told me that I can apply on my own merit without my husband sponsor. But he is unable to advise me on my changes of a successful application.

Can I know my changes of a approval Singapore Citizenship?

Please give me some advise.

With a 12 year old son I would assume it should be rather easy. But funnier things have happened. I'd definitely think it would be in your favour though.

If you have been a PR for more than 10 years, citizenship application is a formality. More so if your child is a Sger. His SG citizenship will tilt the balance towards your favour. Divorce has no relation to SG citizenship application although the forms to fill will require you to declare your ex hubby etc...
Application will take about 6 months approx
