EP status for Ex PR-Pending outcome from vetting Agency

Post by hrjhrj » Fri, 25 May 2012 3:44 pm

Hi All

My PR got expired in August 2011 and I surrendered it in Jan2012. I was not working in singapore when my PR expired / surrendered. Now I have a Singapore offer and want to come on EP.
Recently I applied for EP and the status shown is "Pending outcome from vetting agency. Expected duration-2 months from date of application". I wonder what triggered them to have a Background check for a ex-PR who has surrendered PR just 4 months ago.
I am not so worried about the outcome from vetting agency, but the timeline to get EP approved will be now extended to around 2 months.
Appreciate feedback from anyone who has faced similar kind of issue. Thanks

You probably got in as an EP and later as a PR back when things were lax, especially if you were into IT at the time. Now, things are tighter all over for all classes of EP's and PR even more difficult. So, it's a good possibility that your educational qualifications were never actually vetted carefully by their in country teams that actually go to the universities names and check your records AT the University. This can take time, especially if you happened to come from a university whose records were never computerized. All you can to is wait. And pray for a miracle as you burned the government once by taking up PR and then just using it as a bolthole. They have a very long memory.
