Mycoplasma

Post by Mrsgrim » Fri, 25 May 2012 3:38 pm

Hi,

I have just had it confirmed through a blood test that I have mycoplasma. My husband and 4 yt old seem fine, but my 3 yr old has been cranky and unpredictable for the last fortnight. The doc has given me antibiotics for him as it is assumed he has it too. However without a blood test we can't be 100% sure. Should I just start him on the treatment? Any thoughts? Thanks

Singapore is full of the stuff, some believe in just slogging it out out while other will pump themselves full of Anti-B the moment the wind changes direction.

Our sprog had all the symptoms, and after a week of high fever not shifting we went down the anti-B route zinthramax seems to work and tastes nice

i don't have children, so i can only guess what "cranky and unpredictable" could be... or could be due to...

if he isn't showing any obvious signs of ill health (fever, cough, et al) then i don't think you have to worry just yet.

and as you said, you're not 100% sure - so why not feed him antibiotics only when you are? is he insured?

lastly, i am not an advocate of using antibiotics for common infections... but not all $ingapore doctor$ feel the $ame way.

taxico, M.D.
