Facebook IPO a Farce?

Post by Strong Eagle » Tue, 22 May 2012 10:44 pm

I think so... and my view was based just on the fundamentals... a stock price that is at 100 times trailing earnings?

Interesting article though... about how value has already been pumped out of the company... leaving public investors holding a dog.

I think you only need to look through the short history of FB, see the underlaying trend to quietly or secretly circumvent privacy concerns, nefarious operational tactics etc. to not be surprised the IPO was a con job as well.

Whilst Google does have its own problems, strangely I feel more comfortable with it.

I don't FB, by the way, but i do G+

I think there is something wrong with society in general, though, where you post something like 'Dad just died' as a means of informing siblings and family! If that is the kind of person 'holding a dog' as you say, then I might not have as much sympathy for their case as i otherwise might.

It is a scam !!. Basically window dressing for the IPO. The fund managers spruce it up to entice "mum and dad " investors. The banks earns either way

'........at best, this "selective disclosure" is grossly unfair to individual investors who bought Facebook stock on the IPO (or at any time since).

At worst, it's a violation of securities laws.'
