From Shanghai to Beijing by high-speed rail

Postby IOP » Sat, 19 May 2012 4:06 pm

Hi Guys,

I have interest to get quickly to Beijing from Shanghai by high-speed-rail.
Do they have this rail in operation already? How much time does it take?
Do you know the website where I may book tickets - can't find it in the internet.
Thanks.

Do you know where to buy a ticket online? preferably, for for non-crashing train.

That may not be possible :D

But a Google for "chinese high speed rail tickets" had these results to get you started, should read first:

and buy tickets here

We had planned to do this when we went to China, but on someone's advice were told we could get the hotel concierge to buy our tickets for us. Or we couldn't get them online ahead of time or something like that...not sure exactly as we usually do everything ahead. Anyway, when it came time to purchase the tix they were sold out and we were left to scramble for a flight. It wasn't a disaster, exactly, but it wasn't the trip we had hoped for. So...be warned. Get your tix ahead of time.
