Browsing flats on a visit

Post by teampana » Tue, 15 May 2012 11:36 pm

Hi,

We are a young 20s couple living in Scotland, looking to move to Singapore at some point next year. We've booked a trip for October to get an idea on locations to live, job interviews, etc etc.

We'd like to have a browse at some flats if possible to get an idea on what our money could get us. Having read a few posts, it looks like going through an agent might not be the best of ideas. Do you have any suggestions on how (if possible) we could view some flats without the intentions of renting immediately? Any help would be much appreciated!

If you have only limited time during your visit, (ab)using an agent for the legwork is probably a good idea. Just don"t tell them the truth - i.e. that you don"t intend to rent soon or through them at all - or their enthusiasm will vanish instantly ...
