Yes, definitely not Clementi ! I hear the weather is always in-clementi !

OP - since you're doing a lot of research, don't forget to use the HDB rental info history in your rental negotiations.

I think SMS has posted the link elsewhere in this forum.

I will be a biker in SG  !
Bikes are nice, but be wary of the occasional (every 1-3 days on average?) major downpours which will require you to wait out in your office or under a bridge somewhere.
In reality it is not that bad at all. It may seem it rains pretty randomly but actually it does in some patterns. A very typical one is to start raining after 8-9 oclock morning and stop around 5pm. I commute daily central-West and it is probably like 1-2 times a month only when i have to do it in the rain.

Welcome to Singapore!!

Among the 3 locations, I will choose Bukit Batok.
The vicinity is quiet and although it only has a mall, it has many recreational activities at the community centre that you will like!

I agree with the previous post that the price of the apartments in Bukit Batok is not that expensive, and it may be near to your budget!

My advise is that you can check out some property portals, like . to get more info! They have detailed info abt the prices etc. My house was bought via them too! :)

Enjoy your stay in Singapore!!

Sorry to resurrect an old thread but I am going to start an academic position with office in the Dover area. Been looking around for a condo to stay around Jurong/Bukit Batok area for SGD2.5-3k per month and am zooming onto Guilin View close to Bukit Gombak MRT. Has anyone any experience of this condo or of this area? I will be coming with my wife and a 4 month old baby, hence would like to have easy access to MRT, shops, parks, hospitals/clinics in a reasonable condo with gym and swimming pool. All comments highly appreciated!

I can not say too much about the condo but the area is nice, a small, picturesque park right underneath the condo and a big one in a bit longer walking distance from it. Shopping-wise, there is a West Mall. Reasonable. Some other shopping places too (Giant) but not in the direct surrounding of the condo. If you are going to travel by MRT, the location is fine.

I live in bukit batok and drive over to Dover area daily, easy run and I think the 106 is direct. Plenty to go in the area, indoors and out. Outside of rush hour you're within 20 mins of orchard and the quay areas. Jem over near jurong is a cracking mall, most things you need.

cracking mall? Jem? Yeah, I hear that about deep fryers and ceilings over there. I work about a 20 minute walk from there and around 10 minutes from IMM.

I wear a helmet obviously.

It has a huge, nice fair price, a marks and most of the shops I would normally have to head to Ion for. I hate orchard rd so being able to buy a frock, a birthday present and the week's food in one place that's an 8 minute drive away is bliss.

I am sat outside your office. Nice shirt.

Thanks all, I don't think I can afford to drive, so will be relying on MRT. Between Parc Oasis at Chinese Garden MRT and Guilin View at Bukit Gombak MRT, which area would you choose? Both are next to parks and Chinese Garden would mean direct line to Dover. Was considering Lakeside condos but thought they were too close to the industrial areas.

Agreed. I live in Bukit Batok and on the weekend I'm hardly ever in town. Between West Mall, J Cube, and especially JEM, I've all I need.
