i think singaporeans have this thing about "dirt" - including water from an unknown source (eg, NOT from a fresh ice mountain bottle, tap, etc)Quarks wrote:Why is it that in Chinese superstition (I mean deep, long culture) water is said to be seen and thought of as prosperous, yet when it starts to rain, well not even rain, when the condensation from air-con units drip a few minute particles of water vapor into the air, Singaporeans run screaming for their lives and it always looks as stupid and laughable as the first time I saw it.....they put one of their little dick-skinner's (hand) above their heads to ward off these little drops pf prosperity falling from the heavens. Why?

Your language could use some refinement (you're not in the barracks here) but other than that, you raise a good point. I was a commercial diver for two decades, water doesn't bother me and looking at the locals does bring about a chuckle considering most still have wet hair from just waking up, jumping in the shower and off to work. They don't eat breakfast at home - preferring to buy at the kopitiam and eating it at their desks on the company's time. - except in my office.
