Summer camp ideas?

Post by 3gr8kids » Fri, 04 May 2012 11:37 am

I am looking for summer camp ideas from people who have sent their kids to summer camps in previous years and can speak to how well the camp is run and whether their children enjoyed it. I know of Camp Asia and Camp Magic, but does anyone have any other suggestions?

My kids are 6, 8, and 10, and although I will consider any and all types/themes, one that I am definitely trying to find is a drama/performing arts camp.

Thanks! :D

There are no seasons in Singapore, thus I doubt a SUMMER camp exists!

Are you serious? You're obviously not an ex-pat, bc if you were, you would know that ex-pat schools do have a "summer" break, during which "summer" camps are offered.

If you just want to be snarky, please don't post in response to my legitimate question.

I am an expat, but didn't lose my common sense in the process.
If it's called summer camp, it's misnamed here, but for reasons of tradition or nostalgia for "home" such wordings are of course legitimate.
Does the Australian School hold its summer camps in Dec/Jan/Feb?

Can you please stop posting on this thread? I am not sure what your motive is but clearly it is not to be helpful, which is the point of this forum and obviously what posters are here for -- certainly not to be attacked by cyberbullies who want to get into silly debates over semantics.

Methinks you should stop posting on Internet forums if you don't like others replying to your posts in ways you dislike. I have all the freedom in the world to do that!

Alright; you two quit it.

@3gr8kids: we run a loose ship here and tolerant of deviations. you can choose to be annoyed or take things in stride

@beppi: better let it go as OP is obviously not amused.

3gr8kids, I'll be needing something like this next year. I did a search using the words 'holiday camp' and found this link:

Some bits and pieces within that if you fish about, I think.

Beppi was obviously grouchy on Friday.

OP, there are lots of summer camps, in addition to the ones you mention, many of the International Schools run them - CIS, ISS - and probably several others, google them. The ones we did were all reasonably OK and ridiculously overpriced.

Many of the sporting leagues - soccer, tennis, etc, also offer camps. The American and British Clubs also do if you're a member.

Most of the ones I've ever heard about during the July/August months have been run by the International Schools because anything run with Singaporean kids in mind goes for about 4 weeks in late May- late June because that's when their holidays are.

I did see something to do with a summer camp connected to the American Club the other day (their website might have more details - I don't know if you have to be a member to attend).

You could also check the International School websites to see if non-pupils can go to their summer schools and perhaps some of the other clubs. If the American club have got one, the others might have them too.
