setting up a shopping website:
1) i will need a domain(eg. www.abc.com.sg)
2) i will i hosting place. (from my understanding i can go through hosting company to apply the domain for me)
3) do i need to register a new business with ACRA?
4) do i need to apply or register for any other authorization from any authorities?

I swear I've seen an exact post like this previously by a spammer.
"A quokka is what would happen if there was an anime about kangaroos."

yes u will need domain and hosting. And also ecommerce script to handle online shopping.

It's not necessary for you to register new business with ACRA, even though by law any business activity must be registered under ACRA. You can start the business and see if work and register.

However, registering can increase your reputation. And can give you many benefits like corporate bank account and protection with future lawsuit.

Here are the answers

Yes you need to register a domain name.
Yes you need a hosting account.
You don't have to register your website with ACRA. However, if you are planning to expand this online business then I recommend registering your website as a business with ACRA.

Other requirements will be depending on what type of a business (goods and services) you are planning to promote.

I recommend bluehost.com domain name and hosting.

Wrong. You need to register a business to sell online.

to apply for a .com.sg domain, you will need a singapore business registration number. if you only want a .sg, then don't need biz reg. number.

Get a .com domain and you don't need anything.

Besides com.sg and .sg domains are hokey and small-town...

It says at ACRA’s website (http://www.acra.gov.sg/SoleProprietorsh ... gister.htm) that “Any activity that is carried out on a continual basis for the purpose of gain, including an online business, e,g. blogshop, is required to be registered with ACRA.”
