Changi Budget terminal

Post by JR8 » Mon, 30 Apr 2012 4:21 am

I understand that in September the Budget terminal will close, it's airlines moved to Terminal 2. It'll be remodelled in some shape or form, and then re-opened as Terminal 4.

Does anyone know where the new Budget terminal will then be?

p.s. Given the Budget terminal did not come into being until 6 years ago, is this demonstrative of SG's incessant rebuilding (or does it perhaps demonstrate unusually poor forward planning?)

There will be no budget terminal, and if I recall the circular, the plan was to move LCCs to T1, and charge them lesser fees. As it is AK lands on T1, so makes not much difference to move 5J, and TR and FY !!

Considering the available options - considering Runway 02R/20L is off limits, maybe the best choice I guess .. and with long haul LCCs coming on line ... maybe the right choice

I hope they make the runway for the A380 closer while they are rebuilding - took 15 minutes to taxi last time.......!

That depends upon the landing pattern .. if landed on 02L/20R then you are closer to T3 .. if you land in 02C/20C then you are on the other side of the terminal, hence the taxi .. and you need to take the 'crossing' North Cross or South Cross !!!

Cannot help there .. pray for favourable wind patterns .. !!!

Unfavourable wind direction and you get the long taxi, but at least we don't have crazy winds like they do at some places at times. This is Bilbao just a couple of days ago: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-17863501

That's because there was a fuel leak and they couldn't shut the engine down.

I'm glad they're closing the budget terminal - it was a load of rubbish last time I went and I ended up writing to them about it because we had such a bad time.

They were basically checking every flight in together, using just 5 or 6 desks with one big queue regardless of what time your flight was due to take off.

We nearly missed our flight, along with quite a few other people and we'd arrived 2 hours before!

I think they must have got this particular check-in idea from Heathrow or something.......that's how useless it was

Maybe I'm the only one, but I never really minded the budget terminal - I liked it because it was cheap and cheerful, and small enough to get around.

Since I only ever used it for short flights and on vacation perhaps I like it because it going there meant going somewhere nice. Plus easy to bring in Egg McMuffins to the waiting area, the only thing I eat from McDonald's; the other terminals are often a much farther walk.
