Migrating to New Zealand

Post by judefication » Fri, 20 Apr 2012 5:37 pm

I'm considering migrating to New Zealand as i wanted a life that is more laid-back and closer to nature. quite keen to take up a job in the music or retail fields though...if anyone has been there or is native to the land, do share! did research but thought it best to speak to someone so do let me know thanks!

you can contact me here or just drop me an email at: [email protected]

I think it would be best for you to do so in a New Zealand-centric expat forum. There is one (not posting it though due to conflict of interest).

My niece and her husband & 2 young boys moved to New Plymouth around a year ago and are loving it.

Maybe Mad Scientist will stop by. He's been working in Christchurch even since the earthquakes there.

It's not like Singapore.

Used to be easy to get work pass which lead to residency but now not that easy , in fact jobs are very scarce to be honest.
First priority Kiwis, next Ozzies , next Pacific Islanders then others
This is a big country. The north Island is the size of Malaysia from top to the bottom and a bit more.
Race Relation Agency has alot of teeth here in NZ. Tolerance to other cultures and religion is much better compare to SG. Many Asian find hard to step down from a fast paced country to a laid back style here.
Down here even if you complain it will always be slow.
Visiting and living here is very much different. If you are a DIY type of guy and are prepared to get your hand dirty then job is easy to get
