Yep I'm there, and very very happy to be there.
The construction site across the road isn't finished yet, so not sure what it will be like after that (eg obstructs the view, deluge of new inhabitants and their cars jams Farrer Rd...).
It really depends on where your unit is. I've visited a few facing the road (and the construction site) but those were pretty bad already: they get direct sunlight and the constant noise of an 8-lane road. Units facing Somerville are the best IMO.
The MRT is slightly further than you'd like, so I usually take it only when going home (you can hop on one of the many many buses for just 1 stop if you don't feel like walking 400m). Wet market across the road is great.
What I really like though is:
- low rise
- big units, no ripping you off on bay windows and aircon unit square footage
- lots of greenery
- friendly neighbours, many of whom have owned their flat for years and years (and who always roundly reject en-bloc offers)
- friendly staff
- very convenient for me
- nice facilities (gym, squash, tennis, pool)
- well-maintained: you have the benefit of an "old" place without the downside of a crumbling building
Beware of pricing though, I've seen some pretty wide discrepancies in rental offers (check the URA website).
