Quota for Filipinos (10 Singaporeans/PR:1Filipino)

Post by crescia » Wed, 11 Apr 2012 8:39 pm

I have gone to an orientation this afternoon and the training center said that there are quotas of foreigners. Different nationalities have corresponding quotas. They said that the quota for Filipinos to be hired E/S pass is 10 Singaporeans/SPR to 1 Filipino.

Is this true?

Alright. Let's just say what they say is true - what is your concern in this matter then?

Note: Actually I've been looking up for this info but I can't find it in MOM's official website... Hurm... :-|

Lynx, that was the first thing I checked, when nothing turned up then I check the Newsroom, nothing there either. Therefore my question to the OP.

Which has not yet been answered. I suspect the OP was turned down for the job and the HR exec told the OP that so they wouldn't feel too bad. I might be wrong. but there are NO quotas that I know about and all quotas are published. Internal quotas (directives like what have been laid on the Indians recently) are never revealed to the public. That's why I doubt the validity of the statement.

by the way, what is OP?
if you all have checked that the info i've given you was nowhere to be found then the agent was just making stories for us to seek for their services...

Yes . .. no published quota based on nationalities, except for certain labour intensive sectors ..

Then again, those nationalities who are on watchlist, do get the SP/EP if they are qualified enough and offered good pay.

Recently a friend recruited a guy from Sabah, with experience, in FnB - pass rejected. And the same job was offered to a Filipino - with only 2 years experience vs the Sabahan's 4 years experience - the latter got the pass .. Both were equallly qualified in terms of their trade certifications .. and were offered the same pay.

The recruitment manager was surmising that maybe Singapore dont' want Sabahans .. as the same as he was saying about Myanmar nationals .. when a few Myanmar applications were rejected.

well, to the OP (OP - > original poster - who started the thread.. ) : so from what I Know, Filipinos "MAYBE " on a higher ranking .. is what I could say ..

Your recruitment agent is taking you for a ride I guess .. did you pay him / her for the placement ?
