Applying for EP, Options for wife?

Post by LastActionHero » Fri, 06 Apr 2012 6:58 pm

My company is applying for an EP for me and I'm planning to work in Singapore for more than a year. My wife currently runs her own start-up and is an entrepreneur. She would like to continue working when she is in Singapore but is not too keen to register a new company in Singapore due to capital requirements issues etc.(its a small startup and money is tight). What are her options so that she can work legally in Singapore?

Apply DP under your EP thru your employer. Then come here look for job.
Then get LOC (letter of consent) . The hindsight is if you lose your job , there goes hers too as the DP is tied to your EP

Or apply EP on her own . Once she found a job , change DP to EP

To do business here is another kettle of fish

Thanks. That link is a treasure trove. Not sure if this is the right way, but I found another link which basically state that if a company inviting the employee for working in Singapore is not a Singapore registered company(My wife’s company) another company can sponsor the application. What are these "other companies"? Are there agencies which will do this?

Link 1 -> http://www.mom.gov.sg/foreign-manpower/ ... px#sponsor
Link 2 -> http://www.mom.gov.sg/foreign-manpower/ ... ponsorship

Also since my wife is not looking for a new job in SG, she would like to continue what she is doing right now.

I would think they would be a company that has respectability in Singapore and can do the application. But you must remember, they may will want something in return, fee wise. You could check with companies like Janus or .. They will probably do it for a fee. Again, it's not a given that the pass will be granted, even with a sponsor, but under the circumstances I'd say it would be a pretty sure thing.
