Pass for internship at Singapore?

Post by joshua1234 » Thu, 05 Apr 2012 2:05 pm

Hi all,

I need some advice regarding internship at Nanyang Technological University. My Biomedical Science degree program (University of Bradford, at MDIS) is going to end in 2 weeks time and I am offered a research internship position at NTU. The pay would be low (<1k) and the period is ~3-4 months.

Currently am holding student pass which will also expire in 2 weeks time, so am trying to find out what kind of pass would I need to apply for? The NTU admin side is also confused....

Have tried to contact MoM but their line is always busy and they have yet to return my email inquiry as well. In the meantime, it would be great if anyone could advice or share their experiences so I can prepare ahead.

Thanks :)

One of these should suffice.

I think this one would be more suitable for OP:

Thank you 'sundaymorningstaple' and 'the lynx'for the kind advices.

I have actually checked the MoM website. For the 'training emp pass', unfortunately I don't meet the pay criteria (as noted by the lynx) and the description under 'undergraduates', the intership is not part of my degree program, I just happened to be able to get it from personal contacts.

The internship, being not part of my degree program is also an issue with both criteria of work holiday and training work permit since;

- I wont be a full-time student any more after my student pass expired (doesn't fit work holiday criteria)
- It also wont fit training work permit criteria no 4

MoM line seems to be busy all the time (waited 15-20min) and email hasn't been replied for 3 days. If I am not busy in preparation for my final exam soon, I would have gone to the MoM myself.

Nevertheless, thanks for the suggestion guys. If anyone else have similar experiences and could share them, I would be very thankful :)

Pretty tricky I must say.

If you do manage to check with MOM, do come back and let us know how the process should go about for the benefit of the forum members.
