Only 13 Hits for 'mainframe' key search !!

Post by Singapure » Thu, 05 Apr 2012 4:35 am

This is discouraging :(

I have well over 20+ years mainframe exp and have done just about anything and everything MF over the years. The bulk of my experience have been in systems programming and maint, sw migration and upgrades, project planning & implementation, production and systems support.

My search using 'mainframe' key turned up only 13 Hits!! It seems "mainframe' jobs are scarce in SG. I have read each and every posts in all them 13 threads and from what I have gathered the percentage of a non-resident (out of country) getting hired is very low. I'll check out: Jobstreet, Jobsdb, Creditcard, Banks, Insurance companies, and other MNCs and see where it leads to.

Do SG employers really factor in: looks, age, gender, country of origin in the hiring process?

YEP. Sure do. Welcome to Singapore, a country that operates by it's own laws, and not the laws of other countries.

Look directly at the jobs section for Visa, MC, and some of the major banks operating here.
